I saw a flash of brilliant red in the trees this morning and ran outside to find this beautiful Pileated Woodpecker happily pecking away, first at a telephone pole, then this tree trunk. His piercing gaze and elegant posture was a delight to see.

�Even the woodpecker owes his success to the fact that he uses his head and keeps pecking away until he finishes the job he starts.�
