Description
I spotted quite a few of these busy little Nectar Bandits at the booth next to mine at last week's Farmer's Market. One of the things I love most about participating in these Markets is all the different critters, plants, products, and people I get to meet and observe (and photograph)! This particular little guy was busy having a big lunch at Mom's Green Thumb Nursery booth. "Mom" and her kind son are often my neighbors and have helped me on several occasions with setting up my canopy. That's another nice aspect of the Markets....cooperative and supportive attitudes.
I am still doing research on this particular plant and will post when I discover what it is. Might have to wait and just ask Mom next week, lol!
Let it be said, that being there on a gorgeous Summer day, breathing in the scents of beautiful flowers and fresh baked bread....well, it's just a lovely little bit of Heaven on Earth!
Update: this fragrant bush is called "Summer Sweet" and has the most heavenly scent! Here's a little basic info on it:
Summer Sweet is a vase-shaped shrub with bottle brush-like, 3-6" spikes of extremely fragrant, white blossoms. The flowers are an important nectar source for butterflies and hummingbirds. Brown capsules form later to feed the birds and other wildlife. Summer Sweet is unique in that will flower in shade. It has good fall color and a tidy winter appearance. It’s a good shrub for wet areas like rain gardens, or the waters edge.

You will be soooo glad that you planted one when you get a whiff of it while wandering in your garden! Thank you for the lovely comment Lianne.
